character poster for "Azog" the Defiler is a major antagonist in The Hobbit films, a powerful Orc chieftain who leads the Orcs of Moria and seeks vengeance on Thorin Oakenshield for cutting off his arm. While only mentioned in the books, the films expand his role, making him a primary villain obsessed with wiping out the line of Durin, culminating in the Battle of the Five Armies where he is ultimately slain by Dáin Ironfoot. He is known as the "Pale Orc" or "White Orc" and is a formidable, ruthless leader serving Sauron.
